In Louisiana, Medicaid dollars are largely used to take care of sick children. The wetlands are very important. But I think the money is going to the correct place.

bullshite......please provide some direct evidence to that. Why in the hell should it go anywhere else than to what was damaged?

Not bullshite. Google how Louisiana Medicaid dollars are spent. You just don't know what you're even talking about. A common trait on this board.

The state is hurting for money. BP money is being used to fill holes in the budget.

In this case, for Medicaid.

do you mean it is going to special facilities where very sick kids have to stay, or just to kids whose parents have no insurance?

A very large portion of kids on Medicaid are disabled, per the Family Opportunity Act and NOW and Children's Choice waiver programs. Every year, the budget is cut for these kids. The past 2 years ('13 and '12), Bobby suspended new waivers altogether. LA refused the federal dollars for Medicaid expansion. So, they're trying to fill the holes.

Still no excuse to put the money in some place other than it was intended. Get a windfall settlement for a car accident to pay medical expenses, but instead take a trip to Australia....gotcha.......

I didn't say it was right. You just asked why, and I answered.

For the past three years, State Rep. Simone Champagne has tried to get legislation passed, even as a Constitutional Amendment for the voters to decide, mandating that monies received from the BP Oil Spill be deposited into the state's Coastal Protection and Restoration Fund.

Every single year, including this past session, the Jindal Administration has rallied its troops and defeated final passage of the bill.

This past session was a prime example of the games being played in Baton Rouge.

HB 148 passed the House 98-0. It then passed the Senate with a couple amendments 37-0. All the politicians must support it, right??

All that was left to do was for the House to concur with the few Senate amendments. It was never even called back up in the House for final approval to be sent to the Governor's desk.

The Jindal Administration and the majority of Louisiana State Legislators are simply scoundrels.
