Anyone have a recipe? I've heard several people talk about it but never got the full recipe. I've got a good bit of tuna from an offshore trip this weekend and have been eating tuna steaks every day. Looking to try this crab boil tuna fish.

Thanks

boil the tuna in water with crab boil

Remove tuna, cool. break into chunks (as opposed to shredding)
add boiled egg, celery, chopped onions, pickle relish and mayo, maybe a little mustard. season to taste with salt and pepper.

Or whatever you make your regular tunafish with.

He said he was looking for one without mayo so I don't think that is it. I would like to see it as I don't think I have ever made tuna fish w/o mayo although I wouldn't care for crab boil in tuna fish salad.

He can omit the mayo or any other ingredient. He can sub oil or oil and vinegar or avocado.

thanks. I went with a very similar recipe and it was very good. served it on a soft bun and put a slice of creole tomato on it. I will definitely do this again. Here is the recipe I used.

to clarify, I wasnt looking for a mayoless recipe. just not the usual can tuna deal. I used blue plate and tonys in mine.

How did you like the texture of the tuna? Yours cooks it a lot longer than the one I found.

I think the concept sounds pretty good myself. I'm glad you asked about it.

Put an ad on craigslist offering to trade for fresh meat of some variety.

it was perfect. I had it on a mid boil an probably only went 10 minuets. at that point it was pulling apart the way i wanted it. I left it with a mix of shredded and chunked. I didnt measure my water exactly but next time i will do a little more crab boil. I could taste in but I would like just a little bit more.

Good to know. I'm not a big tuna eater, but this concept interested me. I've never made tuna salad with fresh tuna, but I think I'd enjoy it more than seared which is okay. It's just not one of my favorite things. I also don't measure much. I just look at a recipe and then do the way I want, which is good AND bad. That's why I don't bake!
