SRV is the man! I love how David Bowie and Jackson Brown gave him and double trouble their break.

If I remember hearing/reading correctly... Jagger saw him at a club playing. When Bowie stated he needed a guitar player on his sessions, Mick told him about SRV and there you go.

Thanks for posting. He was truly an inspiring player. Much appreciation for the dedication and love of the instrument that it took to get to his level. He was better at playing the guitar than many people will ever be at anything in their life.

Bowie and Jackson Browne saw him at montreaux festival. Bowie asked him to play on his Let's Dance albumn(6 songs) and Jackson Browne told him that he could use his studio to record free of charge. Texas Flood was recorded at Jackson Browne's studio.

I got to see him in the 80s at ULM (then NLU) in Monroe. Small crowd. We walked right up to the stage.
He sat on a monitor at the front of the stage for a while and played. We were about 2 feet away. SRV had his eyes closed and was noodling around. My buddy hollered, "Make it cry Stevie Ray. Make it cry." SRV cracked his eyelids for a second to look at him, then tore into that MF. We went ape-shite crazy.
