U.S. Ambassador flies "Gay" flag at embassy

Appropriate? I'm going to say absolutely inappropriate.
No end of conflict in the Middle East. Palestinians who hate Israel. Jews who don’t trust their neighbors. Al-Qaida members who hate the West. Shariah that designates homosexuals for execution. Terrorists who seem to hate and want to blow up everybody.
And the message on Thursday from Dan Shapiro, the U.S. Ambassador at the embassy in Tel Aviv?
Happy “gay” week.
With the rainbow flag on the flagpole, right there just below Old Glory.
“For the first time in history, the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv has raised the Pride flag together with our American flag,” he posted on Facebook, accompanied by a photo of the embassy, and the flag.
“We are proud to join with the municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo and its residents in celebrating LGBT Pride Week.”

The local culture is predominantly gay? There are plenty of social conservatives in Isreal. It probably pissed off just as many Israelis as it pleased.

but holy hell, what the frick are we doing?
3rd world shitholes who are the agents of tyranny and stand opposed to the most basic human rights (free speech, fair trials, voting, owning guns, etc.)
our politicians are so out of their league on the international stage. America is so great, we have time to "struggle" for gay people to get married. By flying this flag, we've really chosen a low priority on the freedoms we want to rub in their faces. They probably are having a good laugh. Also, what the frick are you doing? Volatile region marked by extreme religious adherence...yeah let's instigate and fly a fricking gay flag over their holy land

the American flag is supposed to be a sacred flag that preserves the memory of the people who fought for our freedoms, our freedoms themselves, etc.
The only people I expect to treat it with reverence is the government itself. It debases the flag and the people who have died for it to fly this stupid fricking flag (or any flag except maybe the MIA/POW flag underneath it.
