All this bitching about the next generation consoles

Maybe people are disappointed about the next generation because it was simply too early to make new consoles? Shouldn't they have just waited a couple years until the next big tv break thru was emerging? Or they had truly perfected new technology like the kinect?
I personally never saw the big reason to upgrade. Of course, I am not a huge gamer anymore.

The problem is that everyone has their own definition of 'next gen' and it means something different to everyone. When you look back at generations and talk about what came out of it, a lot of it wasn't predicted. These things play out over time. Usually the beginning of a generation is better looked game but more of the same. It takes a couple of years for those experiences that really are different.

Definitely wasn't too early for new consoles. This lifecycle was extended due to motion controls, and the last two years of sales have suffered because of it.

I haven't been disappointed with the One yet. Yes I wish there were more games out, but between 2k14, Watch_Dogs, and Titanfall, I have plenty to keep myself busy.

I own tOne am no disappointed at all.
My only dissappointment lies with the lack of games, which occurs with all new consoles. Once Halo MCC and a few other games drop, I'll be set till the next set of new consoles.

The X360 and PS4 actually had 3-4 years left at least. Overall, it was a fantastic generation that they could have kept making games for.

That was the expectation. Gamecube lasted 5 years and the original Xbox only lasted 4 years (slightly less actually).

Oh and FWIW, I don't see many consolers bitching about their own hardware, just PS4ers pissing on tOne, XBoners on tPS4 and more than the other two, PCers pissing on tONE and PS4.

I'm just waiting for the Xbox 1A. The classic hey we fixed all the bugs from the console we mass beta tested on the population and here is the real awesome thing you wanted. Thats when i will be upgrading consoles.

And yeah the bitching is cross platform. Most people love their consoles and Hate the other
One Halo MCC comes out I will be very happy. Then just little by little games like the division and stuff comes out and we got ourselves a badass console
