The governments finger is waaaay deeper into that pie than your link suggest. From the lease payments on gov owned oilfields, to the taxes on every step of the chain from the ground to your pump close to 50% of the price on average ends up in government coffers.

High gas prices mean one thing and one thing only: the President is in the pocket of Big Oil.

I was thinking the same! Nancy, Harry and even Obama were calling for Bush's head cause HE was to blame for the Gas Prices being so high.

So where is the same thing now that we are 6 years in to Obama's admin.

totally off-topic:
why is it always "big" this and that who is bringing about the end of mankind? in theory, smaller companies who can better skirt regulations, shareholder accountability, and publicity could in aggregate cause more damage. just a thought. i guess they don't have the lobbying/political clout (as much money to buy same). carry on.

eta: and XYZ years of failed Bush policies--nuh-duh.

Summer.

We travel here so oil and gas companies reach in and squeeze our tits a little harder because they can. It'll happen in the holidays too.

On a positive note, all electricity, coal, current, fuel, etc are now exempt from state tax in MS for industrial and farming purposes

It is explained by better fuel efficient vehicles and, on average, people are driving less.

I blame a dumbed-down, narcissistic society.
Big Oil, like Big Business, or Big Government simply takes advantage of our ignorance.

Definitely Bush. He invaded Iraq for the oil which he is hiding on his ranch in Texas and being sold for record profits to "Big Oil".
