This is more for the people in Brazil or experience with attending a World Cup, but it seems like I may be going to Brazil last minute. If I am there, then I could potentially be going to the game on July 1st in Sao Paulo at 1:00 pm local time or July 4th in Rio at 1:00 pm local time. Unfortunately, no US group games, but if we win the group, then July 4th would be our quarterfinal match-up (assuming an amazing run).

With this last second planning, I have a few questions:

How do I purchase tickets for those games?

How do I check the availability of those games?

If you buy tickets to a game do you get your visa fee waived (according to the Brazilian consulate)?

How long did it take to get your visas?

How long did it take to get through customs?

If any of you are in Sao Paolo or Rio, then how is it so far?

Has anyone traveled between the two cities or do you intend to do so?

Sorry for the barrage of questions, but thanks to anyone who can answer any of them.

This sounds like a very bad idea. I would NOT recommend it.

You can get tickets from fifa.com

There are a bunch of tickets available for all matches still last I heard. Save probably the Brazil games

Not going, but I'll try to answer a couple:

Maybe 30 minutes. In Houston, they took my passport and came back with a visa attached to it though they said that it would take a lot longer online, i.e, "have a postmarked envelope from USPS to send it back to you in." I think they have a dedicated building in ATL (off of I85?). They will probably be even better equipped to deal with you.

Have a reason to be there, get stamped by someone who barely speaks English, walk left past the very tall (I'm 5'11"), European looking Federal police officer when you get asked to declare something on your way out (you may have to walk right). Had a Hubig's pie that I wasn't declaring for shite. It could vary with volume, but I didn't think it was that crazy at all.

Wrt tickets, heard Rio wasn't available. Might have to look on the secondary market.

Didn't have to be on the ground in either Rio or Sao Paulo, but traffic is supposed to suck, especially in Sao Paulo. Roads are shite. Jobim airport in Rio was kind of shite when I went through it (~2 years ago), but it was serviceable. Sao Paulo wasn't unlike many airports here. Gol, American's codeshare, was a solid airline when I flew it.

Hope that helps a fellow Ronaldo fan.
