In which state would you need a fishing license in if I launched the boat in Texas but end up 50 miles out on the Louisiana side

If I got in the water??
If I got checked back at the launch?

you definitely need a license for the state you're fishing in and returning to with fish..

I believe it would be either/or since the water is on a state line. I think when we launch at the port in Natchez to and go over to Old River in Vidalia we can use either MS or LA.

I may be wrong as I haven't fished in a couple of years.

50 miles out is federal water. You need a TX license.

you can launch in ms and fish Louisiana waters with just a la license, however, you cant even stop in ms waters til you get to the launch unless you have a ms license, same with texas.

i know on the sabine river, you can launch on the texas side and fish with la license, but you have to abide by texas regulations
