Vette guy asked me how mine were doing in another thread and didn't see it until much later. Thought it would be easier to just start another thread.

So far I've been extremely pleased. I did have to restart after 2 or 3 weeks because of a hard freeze but they have done very well since. Gotten a few things out of it so far but in the next few weeks we should have a bunch.

Looks easier to fool with day to day.

Chad, Cucumbers on the left there and squash on the right in that last photo.

I made two raised beds 4x12 and they are doing great. I put the cucumbers on 4 ft tall wooden trellises and just train them up every so often.

broccoli still going strong, although probably only a few more weeks till it gets so warm that it goes to seed before I can pick it

cucumbers, peppers, eggplant, and tomatoes are starting to produce

okra still going slow because of the cooler weather

Everything looks great except for my squash. I don't know what the problem is, but the yellow and zucchini squash plants grew big, started producing, then died. The butternut squash is doing great right next to them, though.

Tomatoes are finally starting to ripen. Chilies are getting picked. Cukes are growing. Now I'm just waiting for my lima beans to come in.

Everything is blooming, but no fruit yet. All of this rain has my tomatoes looking wilted.

I just picked my first ripe tomato yesterday, and I am loaded up with green tomatoes.

My eggplants have small fruits on them, along with a lot of blooms.

I am getting half a Walmart sack of green beans just about every day.

I am picking about 4-6 yellow squash a day.

Pest wise- I have had to spray my tomatoes once for armyworms, and I have been spraying my squash plants once a week for squash vine borers. This year I have declared war on the squash vine borers. I have a pheromone trap set up in my garden to detect when they are present and laying eggs. Once I detect an egg lay I have been handpicking the eggs off of the plant, along with spraying the plants and ground with malathion once a week.

ok...talk me through this because I had war with vine borers for the past 3 years and finally just gave up this year and didn't even plant any squash/zucchini

Looking at pics, that's exactly what I'm dealing with, too. Damn things killed my plants in about 2 weeks time.

ETA:

Plant vine crops that are usually not attacked by squash vine borers, such as butternut squash, cucumbers, melons, and watermelons.

Explains why my butternut squash aren't affected.
