We had to make room for Walden. I assume Wood will get stretched out in Gwinnett and then come back up and be put in the rotation. Trading Gavin Floyd would be a pretty good option to gain a bench bat, I would think.

damn...thought they would save some more innings for Alex. Only lefty in the pen is Avilan, though Walden is obviously effective against lefties. When is Venters expected back again?

I don't think anyone really knows. He had a setback due to some elbow soreness while throwing and had to rest it. He hasn't made any rehab appearances yet.

Wood has got to be pretty frustrated with the organization right now. He was pitching well as a starter only to get yanked out of the rotation, and now he gets sent down to AAA when he really hasn't pitched poorly this year

He's going down to AAA so he can come back as a starter. The only reason he was put in the bullpen in the first place was to limit his innings so he can be available at the end of the season and in the postseason.
