The Sign-and-Trade Possibilities

Denver Nuggets: Denver is looking at zippo cap flexibility until July 2016, and it has a bunch of interesting players on movable contracts. The Nuggets just seem ripe for … something. Stephenson has a good relationship with Brian Shaw, and Randy Foye isn’t the long-term answer at shooting guard. Both teams need to be careful about the tax implications of engaging in a sign-and-trade, and the odds are always against a complex deal coming together. It’s unclear if the front office is interested, regardless of Shaw’s feelings.

New Orleans Pelicans: Lots of rival executives mentioned the Pelicans, but it’s hard to see a match on either side.

Don't see that happening unless Indy wants Gordon for some reason.

Not good locker room material. I'll pass.

Even if Indy wanted to do Gordon for Stephenson, it would almost have to be a 3 team deal. Would we want Stephenson and Tyreke? We'd essentially be in the same situation we're in now with too much money in the back court, even though Stephenson > Gordon.

Tyreke to 3rd team
Gordon and Pels pick to Indy
Stephenson and SF/C to Pels?

I wish Stephenson wasn't a fricking crazy a-hole because we could use him as a SF

But if Gordon goes... I'm down for almost anything.

No. Just, no.

We need to keep the core of Holiday, Tyreke, and Davis together while trying to find a way to turn Gordon into cap space and/or a 3 or 5 who can help us.

Moving Tyreke and Gordon to get Lance freaking Stevenson is a major step backwards because he's a head case who needs a veteran presence to smack him upside the head when he starts pulling bullshite.

I'm a little concerned that he supposedly has a beef with everyone in the Pacers lockerroom, but honestly the Pelicans need some more fiery guys. There's only one person on this team ballsy enough to blow on LeBron

Unless AD is a strong enough locker room presence to reign him in, or someone else like Holiday fills that role, I don't want him.

He seems like a JR Smith waiting to happen as he's extremely talented but his maturity will cause problems.

I don't even know if that's enough. Indy's a pretty veteran team focused on contending and the rumors are that he's got issues with half the lockerroom.

according to 82games, he played like 97% of his time at the 2.

Depending on price, Stephenson would likely be the best guard on the roster. He is not a sf the way Evans isn't one.

He's nuts, but Indiana has locker room problems with everyone at this point. This team could use an Agent Zero type personality

If they can dump Evans and Gordon for Stephenson at ~$10M/year, I'd be quite happy with Holiday/Lance backcourt

Well, Paul George was playing 36 MPG at the "3". I think Stephenson can play both

McNamara's suggesting Gordon to Indy, Stephenson to Denver, McGee to Nola. That does seem more likely than a bigger set of moves involving moving both Tyreke and Gordon.

We don't need a 2. We have a good one in Tyreke. We need a legit 3pt, defensive 3 or a 5. I think we have some Guys who could adequately fill the 5 role in a platoon situation, but we have nothing at the 3.

I would move to be a fly on the wall during any conversation between Monty and Stephenson.

Holliday and Davis yes. I like Evans and would like to keep him, but I'm not sure he's not expendable.

I think it's time to accept that Gordon is going to be with us until he becomes an expiring.

If it freed up space to sign a quality 3 or 5, I think we would have to look at it. What if shipping those two out lets us sign Rudy Gay this year and Asik next year?

Jrue
Stevenson
Gay
Davis
Asik

Who is easier to get rid of? A guy who needs a certain offense to thrive and gets paid $11m, $10.5m, and $10m, or a guy who has shown flashes before and has a player option he may opt out of, making him cost $15m and either $15.5m or $0?

While Gordon's production is so-so, the length of his contract and that player option makes him a lot more palatable to teams than Evans, IMHO.

Evans is capable of running the point or 2 but is a slasher who doesn't have a lot of range on his shot. That makes him a bit of an odd fit on many teams who expect their guards to hit from downtown.
