Coming Soon - Tuscaloosa Marine Shale Crew Lodge (McComb, MS)

Whoa... things are getting serious in Mississippi. LINK

"Shale Lodge’s location is situated in a 245 +/- acre master planned industrial park having immediate interstate access to I-55 and John E. Lewis Field (Pike County Public Airport). The park is currently under final planning stages and will be supported with a 5,200 LF flexible paved roadway, water service, sewer service, and telecommunications infrastructure. This park will be geared towards the oil and gas service industries for office accommodations and laydown yard locations along with Shale Lodge a crew lodge for the oilfield companies operating in the region. Shale Lodge will be situated on an outlaying 40 acre parcel. We master planned this community to adapt to the influx of workers in this play. Phase I is scheduled for 240 beds and Phase IIA will have an additional 296 beds. All phasing will be supported with public sewer, public water (domestic and fire), onsite dining hall(s), onsite laundromat, guest parking and tractor/trailer parking accommodations. Our lodge will include managed facility services and will offer onsite ground maintenance, housekeeping and a fully equipped staffed buffet style dining for our guests. Shale Lodge is currently scheduled to open Phase I by January 1, 2015."

Have a feeling there will be quite a few things like that built in the south very soon.

TMS is not the Bakken or Eagle Ford. I'm very surprised that is being built. I will not invest...

The Bakken wasn't the Bakken before it was the Bakken.

TMS is never going to be the Bakken. TMS could get moderately busy, but its not going to be crazy unless commodity prices go way up.

S.TX and N.Dakota are different from TMS...
Population densities are larger.
Building codes are easier.

Not until drilling costs come down substantially. I could have seen them construct something like this for the Haynesville but not for TMS.

There goes the neighborhood. Woodville and St. Francisville are next. Their children will certainly thank them for their greed.

A 500 acre section of land has already been approved by the zoning commission in West Feliciana for a "man camp" / laydown yard on the southern end of the parish. It is said that they will be able to house 5000 people. West Feliciana Parish has a population of 10k with roughly 20% of that under the age of 18. If things go as talked about then there will be some major changes.

Reports indicate that by 2015 there could be maybe 20 rigs drilling and with drilling times (spud to TD)around 30 days, wells will be popping up everywhere.

At the least its exciting to watch this thing grow and imagine the possibilities. Im not sold that this will become a major deal like Eagle Ford or Bakken but after reading the horror stories from ND, who would want that anyway.

I followed the Mississippi Lime Play with the same excitement and was convinced by sunshine pumping articles that it would take off only to see it fizzle. The TMS beard watching and every article says HK is the stock to jump on.

Will this worker camp be as fancy as their website?

They apparently learned how to use the gradient tool in Mississippi.

Interesting to see this, and the one in W. Feliciana also. I would think there would be more signs of development around Woodville and Centreville as well.

Due to the location, close to Baton Rouge and Natchez, I would not think there would be a situation like what has developed in the Bakken or in the EFS. There was basically very little population around the heart of the EFS 5 years ago and miles and miles of brush.

good point. I have worked in ND on two different occasions. They're 25 years behind most of this area, and they had virtually no population before the boom.

I believe that is Halcon, if I am not mistaken. It appears they are taking this a little more seriously than before.

re: Coming Soon - Tuscaloosa Marine Shale Crew Lodge (McComb, MS)

Yea I thought so too but was at work and couldn't read through to confirm.

A 4 acre piece was purchased in the Natchez port and part of the dal was that its developed in 5 years or ownership turns back to Natchez.

Lots of moves being made. With HK maybe drilling 200 wells on 300k acres by 2015 that will be a huge jump from the 50 drilled so far. Not to mention GDP and the other operators
