In Baseball/Football specifically. Still really good but perennially at least a second place team in the SEC.

I'll get blasted for this post as a troll of course but anyone with any ounce of realism has at least asked themselves a similar question deep down.

So are we now entering the silver...or still maxed out on gold?

Not with elite coaches like Paul Mainieri.

LSU football is easily on par with alabama football. I am sick of this meme that LSU football is somehow inferior to Alabama football. It's unsubstantiated, negatiger horse shite.

LSU's never had football, basketball, and baseball great at the same time. The football and baseball teams are sinking to make room for the Johnny Jones dynasty.

No.

But, outside of Alabama, I wouldn't trade our success with anyone in the country's success over the last 8-10 years.

Not quite, but I think we're a lot closer than most people acknowledge. If Okie State doesn't drop that game to Iowa State in OT we would have rocked them in the natty and gone down as one of the greatest teams in college football history. Then we would all have a different perspective of the Les Miles era.

Umm

You just said "if we could have dodged alabama, we would have not gotten stomped by the obviously better alabama team, and therefore been better than alabama"

So LSU is the best team when they don't play better teams.

Nice Rant Logic.

I would imagine a golden age in football isn't limited to only when we win non stop national championships. So long as we are still in the hunt every year that would be a golden age for us.

Baseball, i think it is getting to the point where there is so much party in baseball you won't see a run like LSU had in the 90's by any team.

How about LSU already beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa that year and would have been playing the team the vast majority of the nation believed should be ranked #2. Convenient of you not to mention that point.

In the next two years we will make the College Football Playoffs and go to Omaha. So that's golden I believe!

Hmmm, didn't really appear that way last time I saw these two teams play.
Feel free to point out how I'm mistaken.

Nice Rant Logic.

1. Make a blatant troll thread
2. Become abrasive when someone questions it in a civil manner
3. ???
4. Profit

You act like Bama barely squeaked out a win in the NC that year. We lost by three touchdowns, scored zero points, and never crossed the 50. Bama was just BETTER that year - even teams don't get curb stomped that badly when it matters.

Bama was better that day. I don't think they were necessarily better that year.

Do you understand what IF means? Had Oklahoma State not lost LSU and Alabama would have never played and no one would have known that we would look so bad against them. Had we beaten OSU we would have gone down as an undefeated national champion that beat an insane number of ranked teams. Its a hypotheitcal situation. Get up to speed.

I sense this thread is about to spiral down into a JJ/JL pissing match.
