I need high speed internet but my street is not wired up by any providers. My only option so far has been a satelite connection thru Hughesnet, which sucks!!!!We use alot of data watching netflix, etc.

Are there any stand alone high speed alternatives?

If you aren't wired, then wireless(cell phone) and satellite are your only options. Check out your wireless providers, most will have accounts that you can tie to a USB modem or wifi router.

I'm actually just outside of Houston now, in a golf course community... My street must have been absent on internet cable installation day, my neighbor 2 houses down is wired up..

My parents fight with Allen's. It's horrible!!! They have all other cable companies locked out though...

I have been thinking about 'bundling' my nternet with my DishNetwork account BUT I have read the Dish is teamed up with Hughenet.

I am now reading that Dish is going to bundle with Exede.

I am thinking of going with either Verizon or Dish with the Exede package.

What say you guys?

BTW, I am way up in 'Yankee' country, ie northwest Ouachita parish.

Just call the company that your neighbor uses. Work a deal with the neighbor between you wnd them for a utility easement and ask if you placed a conduit and hand hole, would they be able to provide service to you.

Exede is 10x better than Hughes

If you bundle with dish just know its a different package and they have a lower data cap

Worked 9 years for dish and they never tell people that. Go directly through exede and you will get faster Internet and higher caps

Directv offers a better deal and doesn't restrict.
