I used to be hardcore into the show for the first 3 seasons, then fell behind during Season 4 and never caught up. Always promised to finish it one day and back when the Malaysian Flight vanished, I got the itch to finish it. So I watched all 6 seasons over the last 3 months.

Spoilers Below...

Damn, what a great show and I thought the finale was better than what I had heard. Its really better to watch it in binge mode because storylines are much easier to follow. The first time around, I hated Sawyer. Now he might be my favorite character. It was odd to see him & Juliette end up together.

I did have a few questions though:

- If The Man in Black had become mortal after Desmond removed the stone, what was the threat of him getting off the island?

- Why did the Man in Black need Locke's body?

- Why didn't Ben move on? Was he creating a new reality for himself with Alex and Roussou in the purgatory?

I didn't like the storylines past season four or so, but man those were some of the greatest characters in TV history. The flashback episodes in season 1-3 were incredible.

Eko's death pissed me off.

It made no sense thematically.
I found out they killed him off because he didn't want to live in Hawaii anymore.

It really was a great show and the ending was excellent. My only gripe is that they should have gotten into question answer mode in seasons 4 and 5 instead of raising more questions.

I thought it was more of him taking some more time to forgive himself for some of the things he did on the island. Obviously he redeemed himself because he was there, unlike Michael, but still needed more time.

I can understand that and I wish we had gone into more of backstory about Jacob and The Man in Black. The final fight between Jack & The Man in Black would've been a lot more impactful IMO if he wasn't in Locke's body and we knew exactly what was going to happen if he left the Island.

Definitely. It was a great finale, and a perfect way to end the series IMO. I get that a lot of people hated it, but I thought it was fantastic and pretty moving. That finale doesn't work unless you're invested in the characters completely, and I was.

Definitely (again). I said that after my rewatch a couple years ago. As much as I enjoyed the weekly discussions here, it's much better to shotgun the episodes because you don't really have the time to dissect everything and try to question everything.

I'll try to answer your questions from what I remember.
quote:

- If The Man in Black had become mortal after Desmond removed the stone, what was the threat of him getting off the island?

I think that he was contained to the island, so it was "don't let him off." Even if he was mortal by that point, it was still in everyone's best interest to kill him/keep him there to not affect the outside world.
quote:

- Why did the Man in Black need Locke's body?

I don't remember this specifically, but I think the smoke monster took human form, so MIB was what he used until dead Locke came to the island (and then he took over him). Not sure about that though.
quote:

- Why didn't Ben move on? Was he creating a new reality for himself with Alex and Roussou in the purgatory?

Because he wasn't done atoning for his shite yet. He served with Hurley for however long, but still had more things to do before he moved on. And he wasn't really in that core group of characters anyway, so him moving on with all of them wasn't really necessary (really only Hurley befriended him and asked him to be his #2).

I'm on my phone too, so sorry if there are typos and whatnot. Someone else may be able to answer these better than I did.

Agree. And it especially sucked when you got hooked on a compelling storyline and then they'd wouldn't come back to it for a week or two. Bing watching it made that pointless.

I concluded that the Men in Black's mortality only lasted during the short period of time after the plug had been removed. Jack had to replace the plug, otherwise, the entire island would have been destroyed and possibly the entire earth depending on your perspective.

He needed Locke's body in order to fool Ben into killing Jacob; the MiB couldn't do it himself.

Not gonna read all of the spoilers. I'm a few episodes into season six, and I'm honesty just trying to get through them as fast as possible just to finish it. After season 3 it just got extremely convoluted and retarded. First three season were great though!

I agree. While I wasn't a huge fan of the flash "sideways," I thought it was a really good finale when it could've been a whole lot worse. I expected them to have a few more cliffhangers.

Gotta admit, when The Man in Black is getting ready to leave and the camera cuts to Jack yelling at him in the rain, I got chillbumps.

All time favorite show. I know it has its flaws but nothing will ever top it in my eyes. I'm extremely biased towards it

With all of it's flaws, it is the best experience I've had watching a TV show. The ride was fantastic.

Agree with this and though some criticized the finale, it was perfection for me.

it sounds lame but I agree. It's one of those things that you remember the time period more than anything. Here's my lost experience:

It was the summer between S4 ending and S5 beginning, and I had never seen an episode. I obviously heard great things so me and some buddies decided to give it a shot. We were in Athens and most people had left for summer, so it was just like 5 or 6 of us in our apt building. We rented disc 1 (first 4 eps) from the video store and watched, and were all instantly hooked. We built a little fort in the living room and we would all just get in the fort and rail LOST. Many extracurriculars involved as well. It was so, so addicting. We would watch LOST for like 10 hours straight. It was excruciating when I had a maymester class that traveled for a week and I couldnt' watch LOST. The last bit of S4 wasn't out on disc so I had to go to the SLC on campus with my headphones and watch LOST by myself. S5 and 6 we watched live but it wasn't quuiiiiite the same. That binge watching period watching 1-4 were just really good times with good friends. One of the reasons I'll always look back fondly on the show.

Because he knew Locke was a candidate, knew he was "the leader" of the others, and Richard would likely listen to him if he wanted to go to Jacob.

MIB pretty much picked out Locke the second he got on the Island.
