Question about River Birch Planting

I know most trees are best to be planted during the cooler months.
My question however is, does this apply to river birch trees? Northshore area.
I have a dying maple that I will be replacing in the next year or so. I want to put a river birch near it now to get it a decent size by time I have to cut down the maple.
Should I wait or is a river birch sturdy enough to plant now?

Plant now and keep watering it as needed.

I think you will be fine planting now. That said, River Birches are poon tang trees. I have a lot of them and they piss me off constantly.

That's why I cut all mine down. My yard is stick free and the patio has no more leaves. I truly hate a river birch.

If you have a water oak plant the river birch under it. That way there is a chance that the water oak could fall on the river birch and greatly improve your yard.
OK - seriously, if you are determined to have a river birch go ahead and plant it and make sure it gets a lot of water. It will be fine.

+1. Might as well get a lab puppy and plant some bamboo in the yard too.

I like my birch. I can see where they would be a problem if planted in the wrong spot though.

Me too.
I pruned mine back to where it is only one tree, not the cluster of multiple trees you see most of the time.
Mine now is about 25 ft. tall and the main trunk is about as big around as my thigh. The first limb is 8 feet up the trunk.

Same. I see clusters of 3 and 4 in people's yards that have gotten big. The problem is they all lean to get away from each other. Mine stands straight up and has a very symmetrical top on it.
I mean is this common sense, or are we the ones who are way off base?

I like my 2 that I planted 2 years ago
they are already taller than my house, they were barely taller than me when I planted them

I like how they grow in "bunches"
it was the reason why I planted them, but mine are growing straight up as they were planted in an open yard with lots of direct sunshine

My previos house had a river birch that I liked.
I now have oaks and a dying maple. I rather have the river birch or a few in its place.

To me, the "3 ways"...
