Henderson Swamp Fishing- need help

Always have driven over it but never fished it. Buddy and I want to go.
Where do you put in?
Where is the best places to fish?
Is it safe to run? (Looks like stumps everywhere)

Run up(nort) that main bayou(Bijou?) and look for willow clumps on your left. Pitch jigs or craworms to base. If fish are active, use spinnerbaits pitched up in there. If that doesn't work, pitch hyancinth clumps with soft plastics and very light weight, as the fish are right under them at the top.

Really, the possibilities are endless.
As far as where to launch, there's the public launch in Butte Larose. Then in Henderson there's Kerns, Mcgee's, Atchafalaya Basin Landing. Just to name a few.
Best places to fish? That you'll have to figure out yourself. Plenty of good fishing in there.
Safe to run? That I don't know. I'm always there in a

I was out there yesterday afternoon in a . I stayed around Kern's landing because it was my first trip and I got a late start. The wind picked up but the fish were really biting. I only brought a 8' SOP and had no way to anchor in 10' ft+ of water. Between fighting my position, cork and line placement, and dragging through weeds... I had 12 fish take a worm in 2 hours but I could not get any in the boat. I decided to move about 2 miles and finish the day out of the wind and when I did, the bite was gone. Right at dusk, bass started jumping out of the water but nothing hit spinner or beetle spin.
A guy at the ramp told me to bring worms, crickets, and jigs. If there are no bites in the first hour, pack up and go home. Its either on fire or nothing at all.
Are there any yak friendly launches closer to the big water than Kern's?

That's pretty close. However, I've had plenty of trips where I didn't catch anything for hours. Then all of a sudden I find the right spot and load the boat. Doesn't happen all the time, but I don't ever give up after an hour.

I've been putting in at the Butte Larose public launch a lot lately. Fishing north of I-10 in Pelba and Bigeaux.
ETA: I make sure to paddle close by the banks. And keep your head on a swivel. There's some jackasses in big boats out there. Make sure you see them and stay out of the way and you'll be fine. I prefer to go out there on Sunday evenings because the boat traffic isn't that bad.

Oh, and if you fish those willows in the Nort flats, throw a devil's horse or other prop bait while you are trolling to the next clump.

Those willow clumps must be a little further north than I've been in my yak.

Both times I've been out I launch at the Butte Larose exit launch. When you pull up there are big open spots to the left and right of the launch, I'll usually pull up there to not occupy a spot on launch, unload all my gear and put in just under the bridge. Like mentioned stay close to the bridge/banks and stay alert, the boat traffic can be a bit ignorant at times. I got zoomed by yesterday by several people, didn't bother me just something to be aware of.

Go into Henderson and ask around for Judd Dauphinet. That guy can tell you all you need to know. Just don't piss him off

Are there boating lanes to run in? All those stumps looks like it could be hazardous on a prop

You can safely run a boat near the far south end, between the I-10 bridges, the Phillip's canal, Lake Pelba, and North & South Bigeaux. It's really easy to get around. Just don't make the mistake of trying to cross the stump fields. Been there, done that--You'll only do it once
