This is a big week for the big club.

Fresh off of winning 11 of their last 15, and going 5-1 with 2 splits in their last 8 series, the Astros really need to seize that momentum and string together several wins this week.

A 4 game sweep of the lowly DBacks would put us at 32-36, and should we be able to do that and carry the momentum into the weekend, we get the shitty Rays at home for 3.

Bottom line, if we can put together another 7 game win streak we can be within 1 game of .500 by the end of this week!

Exciting times in Houston!

I'm still laughing at the twins announcers "oh jeez" comment after the Singleton granny.

That wasn't the guy's only blunder yesterday.

He was talking about how Chris Carter was a good pull hitter but had no power to the opposite field.

Boom. Grand Slam Opposite field.

Request: Instead of spreading out the threads, let's start changing these threads to SERIES threads. The daily ones get too cluttered on the board and I lose track of which one I posted in.

Besides, seems as though most of us stick around in a daily thread longer than 1 day.

Just a thought.

I don't expect sweeps, but these guys are so frickin' bad.

This week has a downward trend as far as starting pitching goes, IMO. I haven't looked at exact numbers, but just by going what I've read and seen in single games.

Looks like other teams are taking more pitches and fouling more off to get those pitch counts up and the starters aren't getting as far into the game.

Meh I don't know how much I would read into that.

Feldman just had a bad day, and I read this morning that McHugh's control issues were due to a blister on his middle finger on his throwing hand.

Cosart had a good outing last time, albeit short, and Peacock & Keuchel have been good.

Also, I agree on the series threads. I will change.

It's weird that I will be disappointed in a 2-2 series with the DBacks.

Agreed.

Between the D Backs & Rays, I expect 5 wins. Hoping for a clean sweep.

I wont get my hopes up. They've been playing better than we'd expect. Now that we're expecting wins against teams worse than us (holy shite, I just said that) it would be very Astros of them to lose the majority of these games.

The key is still going to be the pitching.

Yesterday was cause for concern with the bullpen.

They've been really solid for a while now, but if it weren't for 2 grand slams yesterday, we would have been in real trouble.

I really think the team is relaxed and discovering some confidence with the energy that the new guys are bringing.

Is Arizona a road series? The bats should do well there.

It's 2 games in Phoenix followed by 2 in Houston in 4 consecutive days.

We usually have at least one of these per year. I'm just treating it as a 4 game series.

downward trend in starting pitching

it was. Keuchel went 6 shutout but Feldman got rocked. McHugh struggled again with control and high pitch count and was gone after 4.1. The bullpen has been much better when we only ask them to give 2 innings. if we stART asking them to pitch 4-5 every game you will see some ugly numbers emerging again.

I'm really concerned about Feldman. making too much money to suck. Maybe he is hurt? At least we have Oberholtzer ready to come back up.

first I have heard about the blister. hopefully itcan be rectified. blisters can be lingering problems for some guys. He has really good stuff when he's on but he has to have control. Wonder if they should skip him and let the blister heal. call up Obie

You'd have to think so. Now, if Castro would get his head out of his arse, we'd really be cookin.

Speaking of, I just looked up that 08 draft to say who we should've taken over him and good Lord, it was bad.

Kyle Skipworth was picked 6th - who the hell is Kyle Skipworth (DFA in 2013 btw).

Tim Beckham looks to be a bust at #1 so I guess we can't complain about getting a one time All Star catcher at 10.

Damn, Josh Fields went 20th overall that year.
