It's one of the finest Metairie dishes for sure.

I think Drago's is both in Fat City and New Orleans, unless they moved the Hilton Riverside outside of the city without me knowing.

eta: missed it by this much.

Fair enough. When I think Drago's, I think Metairie. I'll acknowledge the hotel location. My other points stand.

Those chargrilled oysters are awesome. They serve some excellent raw oysters too. The rest of the menu kinda blows

last time I went the wife got shrimp and grits. I was impressed actually (and im not really a dragos fan). I got the shuckie duckie and it was quite good- tons of oysters in the pasta and the duck was tasty.

bottom line is Dragos is damn good

ignore the local food snob haters that think its cool to go against what the tourists like

i never understand that, places get popular because they are good and i always LOL when people turn their backs and find a new whole in the wall and say how much better it is

same as bands, once a small club band "sells out" and becomes a huge arena rock band they dont like them anymore because the new local club band is sooo much better

I am not anti dragos by any means, but you seriously can't say it competes with a restaurant like peche. Completely different food in my opinion. There wouldn't be many situations I could think of where I would chose dragos over some of the other restaurants in New Orleans. I don't get to eat out in Nola everyday, so when I do I want something outstanding.

I don't think anyone claimed as much. The OP clearly is talking about one specific item, and the OP is right. No one has done charbroiled better than Drago's, and it's one of my favorite things to eat.

I agree that, overall, Drago's puts out the best chargrilled oysters. JMHO. However, literally everything else I've tried is mediocre.

They have good gumbo too compared to the rest of the city. I've had a few good meals there and for the money it's underrated to me. But New Orleans people in general either think their shite don't stink or if a tourist enjoys it they look down on it.

Not that I don't disagree, but these kind of comments are pretty unnecessary in a thread about one specific dish.
