If he listens to his family, he'll be ours.

"It's going to be a tough decision between LSU and Alabama with LSU being my home state and all," he said. "They (LSU) wanted me to commit but I need some time to think about it."

Awesome. It's always a hard decision for these kids to make the best decision for themselves.
LSU - better track record of developing NFL talent
LSU - Better career opportunities in home state after Football if don't make NFL
LSU - Plays tons of freshman every year along with Texas A&M
Bama - Offers 250-500 scholarships per recruiting cycle
Bama - "Dismisses" more scholarship players who don't play than any other NCAA team. Which is why they sign 30+ a year and never top the 85 mark. Sign em all and tell them they will all play then cut the ones who aren't good enough to start. Awesome motto!
Bama - Has more 4-5 start recruits riding pine than any NCAA team

Im a Oil and Gas consultant and I can say 1st hand every client rep including myself "represent" 3 schools. LSU, Texas A&M, and Texas. Petroleum has more 250k a year plus jobs than any other sector in the industry.
So how many former LSU players are working in petroleum? I'm not quite understanding how LSU's connections in oil and gas have anything to do with this decision.

My boss in Houston on my Last 2 projects was LSU alum. The one before that was Texas A&M. Also the fact that LSU has the most players on rosters in the NFL slightly above USC and 16 more that Alabama makes it a logical and morally ethical decision to stay home.
What in the frick was going through your mind here

Dude way too much personal info. Nobody, especially Charlot, cares what the three big schools in O&G are. Go tell that to AP kids in high school.
Back to Charlot... This one gonna drag out until the end?

None that I have met. But I have done some work with Eddie Freeman former 2nd round draft pick of the Chiefs in 2002 out of UAB. He is a HSE Consultant and got himself some petroleum schooling at Nicholls State as well. There is life after football... even for those who make it to the league.
Correlation for you:
Playing for the Home team.
Better chance of being developed to NFL talent.
BC kids want to make money.
LSU is one of the major O&G Player suppliers of talent.
Life after football.
Biggest is Life after football. less than 1.7% of all college football players make a NFL team. Therefore, future is key and that is what I'm talking about. They all want to go pro. but the reality is out of 9000 only 200 make a roster

It's Patterson. If the kid wants to live there after his playing years are over and actually have a good job, there's a good chance it would be in the oil biz somehow.
Not that I think this is likely to be the deciding factor for any kid, but it isn't a horrible point. This tends to be the way that parents think, not the way that kids think.

I see, I guess that does make sense. I don't know anything about his family and their priorities.
I always thought his commitment to Bama so early was a power play on his part to put the pressure on LSU to offer. We'll see how it turns out.

Yeah, that was my point about the post. Everyone seems to forget the term "Student Athlete" because most don't get their degrees. For those who complete school there are opportunities outside of working for a used car dealership.

And I thought it was a play for the pipeline, with Jones for next year, but it seems this guy has "it".

Will be an interesting kid to watch, Patterson is very pro LSU.

2015 is very deep at receiver, but if 2014 taught us anything, you can't just handpick which ones you want to take.

It would be nice to flip one from Bama
I figured when he committed so early his recruitment wasn't over by a longshot.
