George Strait performed before the largest concert crowd ever last night in Arlington Tx.

Has anyone better managed their career than Strait?? Unbelievable records he has set. Over 60 number ones in the biggest selling music genre.

Not personally a fan, or of country in general but the guy knows his fan base and always seems to be consistently on the radio. Says something when I'm 28 and I can't ever remember him not being a relevant country artist

Hell, I'm 41 and can't remember him not being relevant.

I used to listen to the radio in bed as a young kid and wouldn't go to sleep until "Unwound" was played. I loved that song for some reason.

Probably but Strait's career was bigger during times of bigger money.

Both have sold over 100 million albums. McCartney I suspect has done much better on royalties from songs he wrote that were recorded by other artist.

It would be interesting to see who has brought in the most money even though McCartney's career has been 15-20 years longer. You would think it would have to be the Beetles. Didn't Apple pay a fortune for rights to their songs on iTunes?

I'm 43, and right about the time Strait got popular is the exact time I lost all interest in country music.

I think he is just stopped touring but will still do appearances and individual concerts.

Says ACM shown sold out Texas Stadium in 15 minutes for next year.

No that would live music tax credits--a Jindal creation too--that works just like the film tax credits.

Strait sold our Tiger Stadium the other night--over 65000 in attendance--during Bayou Country Super Fest.

There is a pretty good chance your tax dollars paid 25% of the EXPEDITURES of that production too. I know that makes you happy.

Is there term for a country hipster?

Mostly what hear about country now is "oh just not the mainstream stuff". Is there such thing as underground country?

It's funny you say that because I did the same thing.
I saw him here in the port city not long ago, so that probably enough too.
