Should have known to not put this on the OT:

Purchasing a home that the laundry room has no windows but the wall is an exterior one. My current laundry room is on a corner of the house and has 2 nice large windows on each side ... I'm going to miss those. I have my sewing machine/embroidery machine in there and want/need some natural light.

If I wanted to put a window ... haven't thought too much about size other than a "normal" size that would go over a kitchen sink ... is it 1) doable and 2) going to cost an arm and a leg?

Thanks.

It is doable-

In a Laundry room - keep in mind you generate heat and moisture- I would not put a cheap window in that room

that being said- depending on size an intangibles
start at 1K and go up

One final thing- MAKE SURE you use someone who will know how to properly cut and prepare the brick for a window. A poorly done job is going to create a HOST of problems

Thanks ... would you contact a brick layer? Or a skilled carpenter?

neither- I would contact an experienced home builder and allow him to direct you. You may get lucky and he will do it but more likely he will refer you to one of his subs.

This has to be done correctly are you will have issues. Lots of guys will tell you they can handle it and you will wind up with a window in your wall that later leaks, brick structure fails- mold- wet areas attract termites, bugs etc the list can go on.

Depends on who you get to do it and how much you spend on the window.

If you are smart skip the thought of the window. Add more lighting...new LED fixtures. You will have leaks since it will be next to impossible to get flashing and true caulking around despite what the big sell contractor will tell you.
