Birmingham among 6 cities to host DNC in 2016

along with NYC, Philly, Phoenix, Cleveland, Columbus.
I think it will go out west seeing that it is more liberal in that area.
Birmingham doesnt have any modern facilities to host nor ample hotel rooms. Would be a smart move by the Dems to try to pull the Southern states blue but its just not happening.

fricking Birmingham?
One of these is not like the other....
And it'll be Columbus or Cleveland. Ohio will still be a swing state.
Maybe Phoenix.

Well the trend pick would be go with the outsider. If Bham had a modern convention facility it would prob be a likely pick.

Cleveland is one of the four finalists for the 2016 Republican Convention.
Maybe they'll pull off a doubleheader like Miami Beach did in 1972.

Might as well have it in Jackson.

Will this be after the olympics? I'm sure the politically connected will make money off such a bid in the form of consultants and studies to make such a bid.

Is ham in the mix because of all the welfare recipients?

Birmingham can damn well host a convention, they have a hugh entertainment district going up by the new baseball park and a huge 5 star hotel being built also. I am sure all that was taken into consideration before the bids.
Also, might the dems want to bring forth the “ RACE CARD ” in 2015 in Birmingham !!!
I can see it now, 24/7 coverage about what happened 50 years ago, and MLK's death, etc.
JUST SAYING
YOU GOT TO THINK LIKE A DEMOCRAT MAN...

Bham won't get it, but hopefully the near miss of a major convention will finally get the dome built.

Well, I hear b ham has a lot of dems and welfare recipients.

I think B'ham would be awesome. Its where they should have it.

Cleveland
And this can be the keynote speaker.
In fact ... she could be Obama's successor.
Consider:
- phone ... check, obviously.
- pen ... likely.
- gum ... fo' sho'.

That's funny and true.
No city in either state will host a Democratic Party National Convention until the design of their state flag gets changed. The PC ethic within the Dem's Central Committee is strong.

It's the Dem's type of place.
And they want to build a dome.
When they went bankrupt, they didn't do an across the board salary reduction. They just closed most of the DMV offices. The generic citizen bastard must suffer because they've allowed their politicians to steal all the money. Birmingham is my pick for being the next Detroit in the South.

For all the talk in Washington about taxes and deficits, here is a place where government finances, and government itself, have simply broken down. The county, which includes the city of Birmingham, is drowning under $4 billion in debt, the legacy of a big sewer project and corrupt financial dealings that sent 17 people to prison.
And they want to build a dome.

I am surprised Mexico City is not on that list.

It's definitely begun the death spiral but is it past the event horizon? Is there any tax base left in the b ham city limits to prop up the crime and corruption?

Bham is thriving. I don't know when the last time you visited was, but downtown with the breweries, restaurants, new hotels, live music venues, Regions park, entertainment district etc is drawing young people inward, not scaring them out like 10 years ago.
I don't understand the need for suburb dwellers and others to constantly shite on Bham. It is nothing compared to Detroit, and it's heading in the complete opposite direction.
