Looking at one semi restored. No AC. Would like to install original AC, but have limited resources here locally. Anybody got a clue how available these are and what it'd cost to install one?

I'm a sweating mf'er!! We keep the thermostat on 63 in the house. May be a deal breaker. My first truck didn't have an AC. I don't know how the hell I survived.

It's will nearly impossible to find any OE parts from the Chevy dealer.
At minumum you will need an AC compressor, drier and evaporator core and new belts. You will have to go with R134 freon, R12 is just about impossible to get.
Parts could run anywhere between $500-800.
There are several websites that are dedicated to restoring vintage cars.
Labor from a good mechanic will probably run about $500. Don't go with some shade tree mechanic, find a good GM mechanic that does work on the side.
Keep us up to date.

I am very selective about whom I let work on our vehicles too. Too much riding on the line.
BTW, what size engine does she have? Automatic or manual trans?
Did your car come from the factory with AC?
Does it have one of those condensors located inside the car under the dash?
BTW, Hemmings website(also they have paper catalogues in the book stores) is a good place to find parts for vintage vehicles.

That looks excellent. $1500 for parts and maybe a $1000 for labor.
That looks like the stock version, too.

Well, I don't know, Pep.
Labor is gonna be stout to do all that.
I was thinking $2500 for everything. Figuring about 10 hours or so.
