@KendallRogersPG: .@LSUbaseball got a big commit today, landing the nation's top player in RHP Riley Pint. Obviously a draft risk, tho

#1 player overall? Well that's probably a waste.

Brady Aiken, didn't sign. Never hurts to give it a shot.

Maybe but it's almost 2 years until he's draft eligible. Lots of things can happen between now and then.

You basically hold a spot open if he wants it. It would be comical to pass up that opportunity.
It's a waste if that spot is only held for Pint, but Mainieri has shown the ability to see these things out.

I said it's probably a waste. I didn't say not to give it a shot.

Top pitchers like that see one thing right now - Alan Dunn. Three years with Dunn can get you on MLB fast track just as quick as going pro out of high school.
Look at Gausman (2 years) and Nola won't be far off.
Nola wasn't that premium prospect out of high school either, he was good but not 1st round talent.

You sure about that? I haven't seen much about the whole "adviser" vs "agent" situation.

Aiken will not set foot on a college campus.
JC would be an option but his agent will take care of it and he probably reenters draft next year which was a big gamble on his part.
You hope it works out for him because although Astros didn't handle it right that was still a significant offer he turned down with something that raised flags on a medical issue. He may never see that money again. I don't think his grievance will fly either.
