Some notes from the Perfect Game National Showcase this week:

quote:

• Ryan Cole McKay countered Fenter on the mound and quickly passed the eye test given his athletic and projectable 6-foot-5, 215-pound frame. His stuff matched his stature, working in the same 92-93 range that Fenter showed off the previous half inning while also peaking at 94.

quote:

Ryan Cole McKay (2015, RHP, Spring Branch, TX) threw a heavy ball at 91-94 mph, also mixing a late diving 81-82 mph changeup, and an 11-5 curveball. He tossed two scoreless innings with four strikeouts.

quote:

Dylon Poncho (2015, SS, Elton, LA) topped at 90 mph, working steadily at 88-89 in his one inning of solid work.

quote:

Dominic DiCarprio's arm strength stood out of this group, and while his 78 mph throw was plenty good, it was his 1.78 POP time that really caught people's attention with his quick release and online, accurate throws to second base.

quote:

Both Dominic DiCaprio and Michael Benson showed well behind the plate for their respective teams in their first two innings behind the plate, both showing quick hands and solid receiving skills.

Dicaprio has the second best pop time of the event so far at 1.78

Poncho has the third best infield velo of the event so far with 92

Breaux is on the list of top outfield velos with a 90, and top 60 times with a 6.72

Lochridge is on the IF velo list with 86, and 60 time list with a 6.79

looks like DiCaprio (catcher) from FL, McKay (pitcher) from TX, Lochridge SS from Lafy are among the top prospects for next year's MLB draft (along with Bregman and Chinea)

also this guy is listed as LSU, not sure why he didn't make it to campus

He did make it to campus. He was run off after a fall semester because we had too many guys and not enough roster spots.

I hope he comes back to the team. We need more diversity.

Also, Chinea a high prospect in the draft?

That list is littered with UCLA commits, I didn't count but it looked like at least 6.

McKay has been invited to the 18U National Team trials later this Summer after participating in the Tournament of Stars earlier this month, even though he didn't have a great outing.

DiCaprio also participated in the TOS but was not selected for the trials.

Reid may be even smaller than him. It's going to be a tiny infield class.

After the events this month McKay has moved up to the #8 player in the class in Perfect Game's rankings, with DiCaprio up to 97 and Lochridge 161.

Didn't we have a pitcher from the Lake Charles area committed for next year that de-committed?

Sulphur and it was a lefty named Breaux.

He then said ULL just prior to Miss St.

If he gets drafted, I think he signs. JMO
