Nexus 5 vs. iPhone 6

so i'm deployed, i get home at the end of july and my Nexus 4 is destroyed.
I really want an iPhone 6 because the hardware looks legit, and i'm tired of tinkering with Android. I used to be REALLY into that whole scene. rooting, custom kernels, overclocking, etc. but now i just want my phone to work and look pretty. i'll probably still root/jailbreak but that'll be about the extent of it.
I haven't had an iPhone since the 3GS. i've had a Evo 4G, Evo 3D, SGS3, & N4 since then.
the issue is that when i get home, i'll have no phone so should I wait for the iPhone 6 most likely in september, or just put down my $300 on an Nexus 5?

Just know that a jailbreak may take a long time before it's available... Also, with Android you have the ability to tinker but you don't have to. Basically you'd haveto jailbreak to get what you can already with stock android

Exactly.
Cant compare a phone that is almost a year old vs. A phone that hasn't come out yet.

just because they haven't announced it doesn't mean there's not a pretty good idea of what it'll be like.
