How I Met Your Mother alternate ending

Random thought thread, but I'm watching some episodes on syndication (around season 5 or so) and it kept showing flashes of Robin/Ted which make sense knowing the ultimate ending. I initially hated the finale, then tried to defend it, but now hate it again for this reason:
The ultimate point of the finale I think, and what I tried to defend, was that life throws curveball at you, sometimes vicious curveballs, and you just have to move on and just make new relationships/continue old ones, etc.
Somethibg about Ted/Robin in the finale rubbed me the wrong way though. And the more I think about it the point of the final few scenes would have better been made if in the time several years after the Mother died, when Ted was going chase Robin one last time, he runs into the dermatologist who left him at the alter and they somehow get rekindled.
Life should naturally evolve through its span, and stories should naturally evolve in the telling. Yet, the Ted/Robin shite just felt shoe-horned to me in the end. I think the story evolved past that, but the show forced it in the end because that was their idea from the beginning. Honestly, in repeat viewings I wish he got back with the chick from scrubs in the end than Robin (after the Mother died of course).

Victoria was a bitch too. Tracy was the only cool chick Ted was ever with.

NPH is talking about the finale on Letterman right now.

I switched over but they had moved on. What'd he say?

I don't know the show that well, but he talked about a lot of fans hating the finale because the flash forward wasn't a perfect happy ending. He said people wanted Barney to evolve into a guy you bring home to meet your mom, but "Barney's the guy who wants to do your mom."
Said it ended the way the writers had planned from the very beginning.

Which might have been nice if it ended a few seasons earlier. Some of the stuff in the last season's made the ending suck. It was completely pointless to ever have Barney and Robin get married with that ending.

A victim of the latter half run of the show. As a character in season one she was awesome.

Barney has nothing to do with why most fans of the show hated the finale. They shoehorned the ending to make it fit what they planned from the beginning, that is fine but they aimed it in another direction a few years ago and they should have allowed for that now.
I had several gripes about the final season throughout the season.
- I really didn't like that Robin realized that she was making a mistake before she married Barney, went ahead and married him and it fell through.
- I would have been more satisfied with the finale if they just ended with Ted meeting Tracy, The End.

Couldn't agree more
ETA: I just hate how the finale made the entire series seem as though it was just Ted justifying his wanting to try to date Robin again. That will always irk me.

I think the important thing to remember is Ted is a self-involved woman, and we shouldn't care what happens to him or his stupid kids.

I thought this would be about the DVD alternate ending being leaked or something... Disappointed.

Better alternate ending *spoilers*: Ted reveals that he is in fact their mother, and they met at a farmers market looking at figs.
