seems like a practically solution in the event you don't have a plunger and happen to have plastic toilet covers that are sealable. Better chance of me having a unicorn in this situation rather than this toilet bowl cover.

It's gonna be a shitty situation if you don't seal it properly... or as someone else mentioned if there is a hole.
