So BP aggresively lobbied in favor of putting amendments into the bill that would undermine local governments ability to participate in the BP oil spill settlement? At least that's what twitter is abuzz about and the comments in the nola.com article. If true this is outright negligence by the Governor.

You're assuming he's looking out for the best interests of the State.

no... i don't believe that's factual at all.

however, this is def a fricking pussy move by bobby j and crew by killing the levee board suit... said suit had nothing to do with the BP oil spill rather the damage to our marshes/wetlands by oil companies of yesteryear and their canals that were dug errrrrrywhere.

ETA: those quoted in the article are being dramatic... this shouldn't have any sort of effect on settlements with BP. fricked up bill, yes... but it was specific relative to the levee board suit.

"Rep. John Bel Edwards said BP lobbied for the bill, which increases his suspicion that it might impact those lawsuits."

Still one of the better governors the state ever had. Not sure if that says much about him or the previous retards.

He's a piece of shite. The levee board lawsuit was something that should have been filed years ago by the state, cities, boards etc. Holding oil companies accountable for their failure to restore leased land is not "frivilous" as Jindal claims. Also, it's not his fricking place as the governor to decide that. It's what judges are for. frick him.

And for what it's worth, I work for oil companies, but I don't have blinders on and can see that they've fricked our marsh and coastlines. Anyone can.

Just another reason why I cant wait to see his presidential dreams go down in flames. When his ego is no longer guarded by the sycophants in this state he is going to get shredded

but BP would have been liable under the levee board suit based on their previous activities in the wetlands.... so, of course they would have lobbied for it. still not drawing the connection from this to the spill personally.

and again, i'm 100% against this bill... just don't see the connection.

The Levee Board is a ridiculous pile of crap, but the suit was legit.

I guess the Gov. knows more about how that poorly worded bill will affect the broad spectrum of coastal protection and restoration statutes than Attorney General Caldwell and 20 well-respected law school faculty who all urged a veto.
