I remember talking to a coworker who said he did radio in 70s/80s before changing careers. Said he trained Hannah Storm as a DJ before she went big with NBA on NBC.

Not really.
I had some classes with lou williams in high school who went on to be drafted out of HS to the NBA and is still playing and having a pretty nice little career.
But nobody mega-famous, or anyone I would say I really "knew" well.

Was friends with Cyrun Bolooki of NewFoundGlory in undergrad....well at least frosh year.
Remeber seeing his band at their first show, at a frat house party. asked what I thought, I thought they were awful.
Came back from the clubs on early morning, and he was moving out. Saying he was dropping out to go tour with his band. Told him it was a dumb idea because they were no good.
8 months later he was on TRL on MTV.
