I'm looking for recommendations on a rod/reel combo or seperate rod/reel that I could piece together. I want something I could fish both fresh and salt here and not have to worry about it breaking on me. Kind of just looking for a "do all" setup. Any kind of info or links would be appreciated. Price range is up to $100-150.

I'd prefer bait caster but i'm open to any suggestions. Is there any advantages of going spinning over bait caster?

I like spinning for throwing a cork, baitcaster for everything else.

For spinning at that price, I would suggest a Shimano Symetre FL 3000 paired with an Allstar classic series spinning 7' - 7'6'' M fast action rod.

This combo would run $149.98

If spinning- Shimano symetry 2500 + basic Allstar 7' medium action rod. I wouldn't want anything smaller than that fishing saltwater

Picked up a Pflueger President spinning reel with 7' Falcon Coastal rod for about $150 a couple weeks ago.

IMHO, most spinning reels that good for saltwater are too overpowering for most freshwater fish.

I hear this a lot but I throw a cork on my baitcaster all the time care to elaborate on why you prefer a spinner for cork
