Every year we hear they found the gay gene.
Every year it's a thread.
Every year it dies slowly because the scientists are buffoons.

But rather than thinking of them as “gay genes,” perhaps we should consider them “male-loving genes.”
Far as I made it.

Performance is a combination of genetics and environment. Just because the gene is there doesn't mean that it'll show through.

And I'm not saying there isn't one, because I believe 99% of people are born with their sexuality.
But these people claim to find it all the time.
This article even says it just found another "candidate gene".

Whoever this "Gene" is he deserves to go straight to hell for turning our youth in to sinful heathens.

Basically, what it was saying was that a "male-loving" gene in men would make them more likely to be gay, but that same gene in women would make them want to have more children sooner in life.
The inverse would be true for the "female-loving" gene. The negative effects on one gender would be balanced by the positive effects in the opposite gender, preventing the gene from dying out.
At the end, they were saying that these genes could be like height, having many genes responsible that come with varying levels from mild to extra-ordinary "gayness" or "straightness".
It's an interesting article penned by a qualified source.

I don't know if there is a gay gene or not. But most gay dudes I know were raised by their mom. Either they didn't have a dad around or he didn't have much hand in raising them. I know one glaring exception to that. So whether a person can be born gay or not I don't know. But I'm positive that upbringing has a lot to do with it in a lot of cases.

I'd call that a correlation. Most mothers are more nurturing than fathers, so maybe the kids are more comfortable expressing their natural selves. We will find out soon that it's epigenetic and certainly influenced by a number of factors (most if not all of them being out of the persons control).

You can choose what genes your body does or doesn't have?

So the gene makes you like dudes. Fair enough.
Which gene is it that makes you wear Banana Republic tanks and flail your arms about when you walk?

Yeah, but the soccer board is de facto proof that it shows through enough - enough to support an entire board on TD.

What he is saying is that there is a variety of factors that includes genetics, environment, and personal choices that all have influence in whether or not someone lives a "gay lifestyle".
For example, a guy with the same "gay genes" with an over-bearing mother may end up living as a homosexual man, where a guy with the same genes growing up in an environment with plenty of rearing by both parents may end up as a frat boy.

Anyone who thinks people can't go gay doesn't know anyone who's done time. The notion of a gene was ridiculous even to gays not too long ago.
And of course, if it's a gene and gays generally don't have biological children, how does it get passed on.
I think some people are born with definite preferences, but not everyone. That's bullshite, especially when you consider the 85 different gender and sexual categories that have been recently indulged by society.
