Why wasn't LeBron getting treatment on the bench?
Posted by TigerinATL on 6/6/14 at 7:57 am40
I think all the people calling him soft mustn't have had a cramp in a while. When your muscle locks up it locks up, there's not much you can do about it EXCEPT to massage it, stretch it and work it. If he had intentions of coming back, which he tried, he shouldn't have been sitting stationary. Why wasn't a team trainer going Mr. Miyagi on him while he was on the sidelines?

didn't want to expose his vagina to the public?

AT&T Center staff wouldn't let them near LeBron.

The commentators were talking about the trainers massaging him, so I would have to assume they were and there was a guy rubbing his leg during a few of the camera shots they showed of him on the bench.
this is just another reason why Pop is tGOAT coach…dude limits his players' minutes throughout the regular season. not a single Spur in the top 100 in the NBA in MPG. LeBron at 5.

That makes sense, I only saw the shots of him sitting and couldn't figure why they weren't doing more.

He did...
But what Lebron really needed at that point was an IV. He had intentions of trying to get back in the game however the trainers and Spoelstra told him no. At that point in the game in was counterproductive for him to go back to the locker room to get fluids to try and make it back to the floor to play.

You can massage all you want...he wasn't coming back in such little time. The best thing for cramps is IVs, and I'm sure even that wouldn't have got him back in time.

He was killing it before he had cramps and tried going twice after they started.

exactly
but people will give Lebron a pass for going out with cramps, when in all reality the Heat just don't have enough depth and ES doesn't belong coaching that team.

This isn't trying to rip on LeBron, I'm just wondering why it looked like they weren't doing more, and I guess the answer is there wasn't enough time left for recovery via IV. How long does that take? What if they had pushed the game to overtime?

the 2nd time? they shut him down and were probably just having him get fluids if it wasn't locking up
i'm guessing the cramp gave, but he would have had it lock up again with the quickness so they just shut him down. since it was gone, they didn't have to do treatment

They seemed to really start affecting him a few minutes into the 4th. I'm guessing they didn't feel there was enough time to take him to the locker room and get him back in the game. They kept trying the quick patch up but it wasn't working.

Spoelstra said in his postgame that Lebron wanted to come back in and Spo told him not a chance.

It was the right call not letting him back in. wouldn't want his muscles to lock up and potentially get injured.

I'm no doctor, nor have I been in a situation where I got an IV and went back out there, but imo, had it gone to overtime and he had immediately gotten an IV, he could have come back, however the cramps probably would have returned pretty quickly.
They made the right decision...take the loss and move on to game 2.
