sorry if there have been threads on this. search function blows and came up empty.

Is this show any good and worth watching? I know very little about it except for the 3 sentence synopsis on IMDB I just read. There is a lot of ruckus about the new season coming out tomorrow. Should I get in on this or is it overrated?

I watched the first season. It's decent, but it got boring to me after the novelty of the show wore off. I won't be watching season 2. Undoubtedly the gf will though. Netflix is going fricking bonkers promoting this thing.

I want to punch Jason Biggs in the face. But, it's a quality show, and I'll likely binge on the second season.

is it a show more geared toward females or y'all just don't have the same tastes?

I think it is. But that's just me.

I watched the first season and really liked it. I would definitely watch it.

I watched with the SO at hte time, and while it may be geared toward women, I find it still good. They show some boobies too which is always fun.

I like it because it's a unique setting with plotlines and situations that you ordinarily wouldn't have access to or think about.

It's a different show, and I like different.

Wife and I enjoy it.

Some good supporting characters. Pretty good story in a unique setting.

Season finale was well done, indeed.

little bit of both. I personally think it has a strong feminist slant (not to mention a racial undertone of the square white girl and the hip black girls who make her get past her white guilt) + my and my girl's tastes don't always line up

Jason Biggs' subplot is useless, but other than that, I think the show is spectacular. It is one of the best shows on TV right now, and I'm a huge fan. The universe created is already populated with more outstanding secondary characters than they know what to do with.

All I wanted was to eat the chicken that was smarter than all the other chickens to absorb its power. And to make a nice Kiev.

The person who created it is Jenji Kohan, the same person who created Weeds. I only watched a couple episodes of Orange. It just wasn't really my thing. But she definitely fricked up Weeds in part with pushing her obviously far left pompous agenda through the show.

As I said, I don't think it's terrible. I just don't find it all that enthralling. The secondary characters are too often more like caricatures to me.

The main pieces of this show are pretty meh, from the storyline, unrealistic prison set up, and even the main characters. BUT, the quirky supporting characters are funny and engaging and the reason you keep watching. I don't think you'll love it, but I don't think you'll regret watching it either.
