Since the Motte thread worked considering these desperate times I decided it's time for desperate measures

He may be the only guy left on our team that actually knows how to play baseball

Yea, this team is on the cusp of a full on free fall. Need to get the ship righted.

Matheny was absolutely clueless as he allowed Jaime to get beat up. Jaime was toast, yet he kept letting him pitch. Guy is year off surgery, can only throw 5-6 innings perfectly healthy and you allow him to get beat up.

Was he getting a rate quote from geico during the inning?

And this bunting with our best hitters shite needs to stop.

I think Matheny gets too much blame. The players need to play better. Period. We had a lead in the 8th last night and blew that and then lost it in the 9th.

Mattheny does get to much blame but so does every manager in these situations, I think Mattheny is somewhat to blame and the players are a lot to blame

LaRussa always said he felt he received to much credit when we played well and to much criticism when we played poorly. He said the best a manager could do was put the players/team in the best position to win, after that it was up to the players

Something needs to happen with the bats. Our pitchers have to be near perfect almost every night.

I liked how our future star bat gets called, gets a solo homer for his first hit (yay), we score one more run that game, and then get shut out the next two. At home.

Then when we score 7, we give up 8

Miller, Adams, Jay, Piscotty, Bourjos, Grichuk are all on the trade block.

At least one of them will be gone here pretty soon.

We need to get at least 2 very solid relief pitchers, preferably a top notch setup man at least and free up an outfield spot for Taveras full time.

We could trade for anyone we wanted with all the pieces we have to offer and can afford to offer, just a matter of who.

Ken Rosenthal said the Cards are interested in James Shields and David Price come deadline time.

Price won't end the season as a Ray, no chance of that happening.

Whether or not we trade for him who knows, but it wouldn't surprise me. We can easily get him and offer the best deal by a large margin to do so.

Waino, Price, Wacha for the next 5 years? Possibly Miller too but I think we'd give him up in said trade. Meh, not bad. Lynn and Garcia with Kelly also competing at the 4/5.

It's not that we can't do it it's that he's not the type of player we usually trade for

Nothing against price

Neither was Holliday though.

We've been rumored for Price quite a bit, tells me there is at least some smoke there. Not saying at all we'll do it, but if Miller continues to struggle as well as Lynn or Garcia, we'll look at adding another SP for sure.

I'd much rather give up some of our prospects for Price than James Shields, do not want Shields at all. Those are the only 2 Rosenthal said we've shown interest for here within the last week or two.

And I want him in the bullpen, big time. At least until we get some more pen help. He's very effective out of the pen and that's where we need him right now.
