Looking to purchase a laptop for work multi-screen set up capability

So looking to purchase a laptop for work, will be used at home and when traveling. Nothing too in depth use wise, excel, google earth, various gis systems and database systems - I do usually need to have most of these open at the same time though.
Which leads to the only reason I am asking the question, I need a multi-screen set up. 3 screens at the office so that is what I would like to be available on the laptop when I need it.
I am looking at the following two options for the as of now.
LINK

leaning towards the second one.
So could I plug a tv or monitor into HDMI slot and use that plus the notebook screen simultaneously?
I was then looking into the 3rd screen option using this adapter LINK
would I be able to use a screen on that adapter + hdmi screen + notebook screen simultaneously?
Do the computers I am looking at have enough memory, a good enough graphics card, and enough graphics memory to perform the function?
Any other comments or suggestions? I am really just looking for guidance here as Best Buy guy originally told me mutli screen set up is not possible (is that true?)
ETA: I know multi-screen would be easier with desktop, but need to travel (only would use two screens during travel) and would like to have everything saved on one computer

My home office has a laptop and one additional screen set up. I just plug the screen into the monitor port on the laptop and I'm good to go.

Get a laptop that has a docking station with dual monitor outputs. That will get you 2 monitors + your laptop screen.
Add these if you need more monitors.

Cool...Thought I knew you...
Of those two choices, the second one...I would have said (1) but that 10/100 option is a no go..

So this for on the second option is good enough?

Whatever you end up getting, if it doesn't have an SSD, do yourself a favor and swap out the spinning HD with one. Nothing will improve laptop performance more.

Hey Eddie, What I'd been buying for the employee at work is the Lenovo T510 with docking station. The docking station has 2 monitor ports built in. Here the one I been getting from ebay, you will have to call Lenovo to get the recover disk but it free and they sent it over night.
