Fire breaks out at Westlake Chemical in Geismar

State Police, the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office and a HazMat team has been called to the scene.

Westlake Chemical is located near the intersection of Highway 73 and Highway 30 in Ascension Parish.

My dad works out there, I just talked to him and he said no one was injured.

I'm on gama radio listening to their communication with 911. Fire is contained. They are spraying water on the area to cool the equipment. They will be doing this for the foreseeable future. Fire is in their peroxide solutions unit.

That means it can supply it's own oxygen to fuel combustion.

Ok. First thought was something to do with it getting in the atmosphere. I'm maybe 2 miles away by air
