Or they do it because they are vain and like attention.
They could just go strip, or you know, get an education and a real job.

Some teams are really d-bags about how they treat people. In spite of making billions, these teams try to pay as little as possible to some people.
The NFL should just step in and set a minimum pay scale for cheerleaders so that this doesn't have to waste any time in the courts.

Recalling infuriating images and language of slavery, one team has the women (dressed in skimpy bikinis) dunked into a body of water. If that wasn’t bad enough, they are then “auctioned off” to “ride around in a golf cart for the rest of the event with the winning bidder” as sexy trophies. And then it gets worse. Considering the small size of golf carts, the cheerleaders usually end up sitting on the bidders’ lap; it’s a cringing display of patriarchy, objectification and sexism. A beautiful body is non-negotiable, and some teams go to extremes to ensure that their girls are in tip-top shape. This has very little to do with health; it’s more for aesthetic purposes. The players aren’t the only ones who can be benched; an overweight cheerleader can be benched, incur penalties or, worse, let go.
I'll be the writer is a fat bitch. OMG they want pretty girls to wear skimpy outfits and sell sexual innuendo!
good grief the world is full of retard.

Stop craving attention and go get a desk job.
I knew a couple of Titans cheerleaders when I lived in Nashville. They were both secretaries. One was a secretary that cheered for the Titans and one was a Titans cheerleader that had to be a secretary to make ends meet.

Last I checked, no one is forcing these women to be NFL cheerleaders.
How pathetic do you have to be to get offended on behalf a group that isn't offended by something you think they should be offended by.

Cry me a freakin' river. This is akin to waitresses working at Hooters suing the restaurant because the uniforms are skimpy.
These women know full well what is expected of them when they sign up. They don't make the squad and then get the rundown on what they'll be paid and how many hours they're expected to work.
Don't like what you're getting? Then quit. Why file a lawsuit? To get an extra $50 a game?

Yes, it is a woman’s responsibility and choice to participate. But think about it — considering the already low pay and the competitiveness to participate in the team, do the women really have a choice?
YES, they have a fricking choice.

What's wrong with these women voluntarily profiting from their physical appearance? 99% of them have jobs outside of cheerleading anyway.

Probably because the jealous liberal who wrote this can't profit off of her physical appearance.

This is the new American way, and it is an absolutely condescending mindset. These bozos are essentially telling the "victims" that they are too stupid to know on their own what should or should not offend them. Thus, the victims need to listen to these champions of "social justice" who obviously are far more intelligent than their poor, unwitting, victims.

It's all about attention
I went to TCU and our TCU Showgirls Dance team is pretty much a farm system for Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. My sisters were showgirls but didn't bother with the Cowboys but a lot of their friends did. They are all in it for the attention and post about 50-100 photos on Facebook/Instagram per day of them in their Cowboys outfits or doing some Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader event. It's all about the attention

You in Sonoma? What a great place. I miss some parts of Ca. (Like Sonoma). But Louisiana is just a better place to live IMO.

Then this champion of "social justice" who obviously is far more intelligent than the rest of us said:
quote:
There’s classism in terms of who actually gets to participate in teams to who gets to frequent sporting events; those tickets aren’t cheap. And there’s speciesism underlying everything, from some actual “sports” like hunting to the food served at events and the materials of the equipment.
