I finally got an answer out to someone at DOTD concerning the time barber brothers has taken to date. Please see the days that have been added or not charged to their contract
• Holiday Periods where the Dept. asked the contractor not to work or impede traffic - 38 Days
• Utility Delays incurred to date - 150 Days
• Utility delays submitted but not approved by DOTD - 65 Days
• Adverse Weather Days to date – 202 Days
• Days not charged due to contract provision about utilities being relocated while no time is charged (11/24/2011 - 5/28/2012) - 186 Days
• Assembly Period (9/25/2011 - 10/24/2011) - 30 Days
To date, they have been working over 1,000 days. They initially said it would take them 660 days. So if you take 1000 days worked so far and subtract the 671 (from the above), they still have 329 days left before they are charged damages. I just thought I would share with everyone who travels this road on a daily basis that it will not be finished anytime soon. I have contact numbers for the state if anyone else would like to call and complain. I guess they had enough of me asking so they finally released the information to me.

How is bothering someone at the state going to get barber to work faster? Serious question.
ETA: Is Barber the same slapdicks that got kicked off the I10 work a few years ago?

state contracts give a fixed amount of rain days per month, but that can easily be exceeded. also expect more holiday days, so expect that number to be increased

it will never be ready in time

I just went today for my 6 month cleaning at my dentist, Dr. Leblanc, on Hwy. 73 and I said out loud, "they ARE still working on this road??!!!!!"
That is ridiculous. Thanks for being interested and posting the information.
I believe in almost the same amount of time the Empire State building was built.

They'll never make it. I live right off 73 and have seen zero obvious progress in the last 6 months. All they do is move dirt around.

It took 1 year and 45 days to build the Empire State building.

I'm sure it's a work day contract and not calendar.
Most of those days don't sound too bad though. I know utilities are a mess in spots out there because they don't have much right of way. 200 rain days sounds like a good bit though.
Barber seems to have gotten some bad projects lately. Oneal was a cluster with utilities as well

They won't hit that mark at all.

Went through this at lunch today from I-10 to 61. Probably been a year since the last time. Looks exactly the same in the same places.

The OP clearly shows the problem is outside of the contractor's control. Yet, the contractor still needs to work faster.
