I would like to hear ideas. I am building a new house. 3200 sqft 4br/4ba + office + a bonus room over the garage. Open floor plan with a screened-in porch.

Aside from some aesthetics and things that are specific to our family, I have only added the porch pre-wired for TV and speaks put in the ceiling of the porch.

Mostly looking for new technology suggestions for Indoor A/V, Wi-Fi set-up, secutiry system (leaning toward wireless contacts vs. wired), kitchen/bar stuff.

Just some FYI's:

Indoor A/V
I opted not to put speakers in the ceiling bc it just seemed like more hassle than I would get out of it. I have a 7.1 set up now, but it is about 8 years old, so I plan to replace it. Looking for ideas. I like the idea of a sound bar or wireless speakers.

Security System
I am probably doing wireless bc it is the same price, but less work to install. Also, since it is wireless, I can easily phase in additional components and not have to drill holes to connect to the system. Anyone have any experience w/ this type of system or any alternatives?

Appliances
Bosch everything. Gas range, electric stove. Again, looking for suggestions.

Fortification Certification

The house is going to be Gold certified for fortification, which should take a bunch off of the insurance.

Anyone built a house lately and have anything they want to suggest that I haven't thought about?

Something I have done of late is retrofit many of the outlets to include USB ports for charging and what not. I can't tell you how useful they been in various areas.

I used the Legrand Adorne series. Attractive stuff.

I would still run the wires if you are building and the walls are open.

I'd also run a couple of cat5 cables just about anywhere you think you might want a TV.

You could pull extra wire and just have it wire nutted inside your panel (not yet on a breaker) for future development.

Dont put your fronts in the ceiling

Have Cat6 run to every room
If you use your garage for working on stuff, make sure you have outlets everywhere and on the ceiling. I'd also have water and sir lines in the garage, as well as a 220v outlet
