Was Coach Fox holding Dauber back?

While Hayden does lay claim to a National title earlier in his career, he never made it back as far as I remember. Upon entering the NFL he was immediately despised by the fan base and under his tenure made the playoffs only once (Wild Card Round) losing to the Bills.
Once he retired it is mentioned that Dauber took over as head coach and lead the Breakers to back to back Super Bowl titles.
Was this a case of Fox burning out, Fox's teaching though Dauber willed Dauber to two Super Bowl titles, or was Dauber a football genius?
