Will Bowe Berghdal be punished in any way for deserting?

Obama is touting this guy as a hero and yet his batallion and fellow soldiers don't like him and view him as a traitor
If he doesn't get punished by our military for deserting, I would not be surprised if a group of veterans find a way to get vigilante justice
Also the chances of him being interviewed, allowing a free range of valid questions, is about the same as the survivors of the attack in Benghazi being interviewed.

No. He'll be invited to the White House, given the royal treatment, and hailed as a hero by our Dear Leader.

Oh someone will. Then a news producer will leave it on the editing room floor for lack of relevance.

He'll write a book...make a movie...and be celebrated by the MSM. Him and his dad might get a gig on MSNBC. It's all upside down.

Hopefully enough of a shite storm happens that he has to go to court martial

Hillary should pick him for the VP candidate in her 2016 campaign to mirror the Homeland theme.

Maybe the guy in Mexico should plead desertion. Would be home in a week.

Yeah, he'll have to have a special dinner with Barry and Moochelle and key selected democraps.
Talk about cruel and unusual - not to mention inhumane - punishment.

If Obama wants him to go unpunished by the military, then he will go unpunished. However, Obama can't make the military trust him, and without trust a soldier is useless. His best hope is to be put in charge of a rock painting detail at some stateside base until his term of enlistment expires. He will not be allowed to re-enlist.
The most likely outcome for Berghdal is that he will be sent to the Washington, D.C. area and be subjected to daily debriefings by intelligence personnel until the discharge he requests is granted. He will get interviewed intensely, just not by journalists.

(1) He needs to be shown to be a deserter...everything I have seen is anecdotal at the moment (though I don't doubt the accounts); and
(2) If he is shown to be a deserter, then he needs to be court martialed accordingly.
I have a feeling that there is literally no way that he will be investigated, let alone punished.
