Was at game and didnt see replay, but appeared that Laird threw out batter going to first. Did they show replay on TV?

He was safe. If he wouldnt have such a long throwing motion, he would have had him by a step

I watched the replay earlier. Looked like laird threw him out. Also Laird was safe when they threw behind him at first.

They showed the replay at the game. Which means the umps probably got the call right. They didn't show Laird getting picked off at first so you know they got it wrong.

Close but safe.... Probably would've had him if the throw hadn't bounced

The throw was close. The slide back was terrible.

The ball just looks weird coming out of Laird's hand.

It shouldn't have been a close call. The ball was hit hard and short enough to right field that is should have been a pretty easy 9, 3 out. But Laird one hopped it to 1st. . It was a poor throw.

At first, he looked safe, and I sit in that area, so we had a good angle. When the same runner tried to take second, though, he looked like he was out by a few feet based on the replay I saw on my phone.

Why does Laird play right field instead of left?

Stronger arms are more important in left field for short sac flys to left when the runner is on 3rd.

ETA: you don't set up your outfield defense for a rare, very rare 9, 3 out opportunity regardless how cool that defensive at is.

Laird didn't get him out, but it was close for an outfield throw to first. Laird was safe at first, but they called him out. Glad we had a decent lead in the game...
