LOS ANGELES – Law officers who visited Elliot Rodger three weeks before he killed six college students near a Santa Barbara university were aware that he had posted disturbing videos but didn't watch them, and they didn't know about his final video detailing his "Day of Retribution" until after the deadly rampage, officials said.

Yet more laws could stop something like this.....

Eh, even if they had watched the videos, what could they have done? Last time I checked, disturbing videos aren't a crime.

So you don't think they could have done anything knowing he threatened to kill the girls on that last video?

I haven't seen the video. What does he actually say on it?

I'll bet they'd have watched them if he had made child porn videos.

I'm still trying to figure out how he was allegedly able to shoot himself in the head with two guns, apparently without getting any blood on the car's airbag. Strange.

I saw one of the Talking Head Psychologists on a network show say that if the authorities had viewed the video they could have gone to a Judge and had Rodgers committed for three days for evaluation.
If so, that would have prevented or at least delayed the slaughter.

They could have easily detained him for three days and probably would have been able to get a court ordered long term hospitalization after evaluation of his writings, videos, and mental condition.

He straight up said he was going to kill. He mentioned the girls and guys (not by name). Talking about how they made him suffer with no sex while the girls just let all these other guys have their way with them.....I would suggest you listen to it when you have a few minutes. But yes, it was as threatening of any video I've seen. A simple search of his car/residence would possibly stopped the killings.
But at the end of the day, he could have done anything he wanted to hurt people if he was set on doing it. Fire, run over with car, knives, etc

He even wrote in his manifesto that if the cops who visited his apartment had searched it, he would have gotten caught.

He didn't post his "Day of Retribution" video until he went on the rampage. I don't believe that the other videos mentioned him killing anyone. Just obviously very disturbed.
