Who will be the surprise of the World Cup?

Chile/Belgium, in my opinion.

Italy, to hear some people talk (that´s a hellatious squad, yet they´re being automatically discounted by a lot of people).
France could do quite well.
France could do quite well.

Not really surprises considering that Belgium is a very highly regarded seeded team about half of everyone making predictions has Chile getting out of their groups.
A surprise would be a team not really tipped for much success make a run to the quarters or semifinals.
Switzerland, USSR, or Ivory Coast would be a better "surprise" pick.

Italy wouldn’t be a surprise and yes Belgium would unless you’re from Belgium. I was in France two days ago and that’s what the experts were talking about, the surprise teams. Sure Belgium is good but they’re aren’t accustomed to making the semi finals of the big tournament. As for Chile, they’ve been playing a high level of soccer since the last world cup. Again, it’s just my opinion but the Belgium thing, in Europe they’re all calling them the surprise team from Europe.

Italy is a top 5 side in the world IMO. How can anyone discount them?
You’re right. The African teams are always labeled as the up coming surprise teams but always fall short of their goal. Colombia would have been a dangerous team if Falcao would have been 100% healthy. I heard on a Miami spanish speaking radio station today that news from France is that Falcao will miss the WC.

My thoughts exactly.
No..no, no one is discounting Italia, they’re always a favorite in international competition. I love the counter attacking style they play, when they score they guard their lead to the very end. They’re always tough although the ref’s helped them in France with that fricking penalty against Chile. The question was who would be a surprise country in this WC?

Yeah, the Croatians always make a good run but I think their injuries are starting to pile up.

I'm not sure this is anymore of a surprise team then Belgium, but I think Uruguay could make a good run.

Counting out Italy in any major tournament is a huge mistake.

Ottmar can get blood out of a rock. I agree, this is a side which should do well.
