NSA has now explained that they have found one email inquiry by Edward Snowden to the Office of General Counsel asking for an explanation of some material that was in a training course he had just completed. The e-mail did not raise allegations or concerns about wrongdoing or abuse, but posed a legal question that the Office of General Counsel addressed.

There was not additional follow-up noted. The e-mail will be released later today. There are numerous avenues that Mr. Snowden could have used to raise other concerns or whistleblower allegations. We have searched for additional indications of outreach from him in those areas and to date have not discovered any engagements related to his claims.

Looks like he was just asking a legal question. If this is the extent of what he calls "whistlebowing" then that looks BAD for him.

And when it is shown that there are multiple communiques, not just one, who will it look bad for?

I'd love for Ed to come out and tell us all about it

He did.

Turns out he was not some low-rent highschool dropout hacker.

Of course it apparently also turns out that the NSA's security measures were near criminally pathetic, EVEN AFTER Bradly Manning.

But you're good with that, right?

Ed could come out showing conclusive video proof that Obama himself was looking up your a-hole via hidden camera and all that would happen with you is you'd get an erection from the excitement.

Not really. He just gives out generalities. He's also been known to fudge up his actions.

He was a system admin that in fact was a high school dropout and he did associate with hackers if he was not also one himself.

The Hawaii facility was the last one that had yet to upgrade with new security measure that would have detected his activity. Ed did his damage before they were able to upgrade. Whether this was another factor that led Ed to seek out this particular job position, we know he sought this job for the specific purpose of stealing highly classified documents.

I'm obviously not good with security flaws that would allow someone like a sys admin to steal docs. I'm hoping the new two-person authentication measures for file transfers addresses this problem.

As I told Decatur early on, the vague nature of NSA loss claims reeked of lax controls/oversight/security. It was just my gestalt at the time, but I said it should be a concern far worse than Snowden, if true. Turns out to have been the case. Snowden laid it out for us last night.

Edward Snowden is a liar and a thief. It's hard to trust anything he says.

Remember when the NSA said there was no evidence he questioned counsel on issues?

quote:

Just six months ago, the NSA told the Washington Post’s Bart Gellman that no evidence of a paper trail existed. “After extensive investigation, including interviews with his former NSA supervisors and co-workers, we have not found any evidence to support Mr. Snowden's contention that he brought these matters to anyone's attention," said the agency in a statement
.

Yeah.. but trust Gov't implicitly, right progs?

Apparently, Decatur's admonition to not trust someone who was untruthful before is limited to non-govt entities.

The NSA lying then has no bearing in his mind on if one should assume they're being truthful now.

He's amusing. Like watching a monkey on strings.

Fight the good fight , my man.

The NSA caught red-handed.

What's the reason they "found" this email suddenly?

Answer NBC "found" it.
