Auto 4WD Mode

How many of you run your trucks in Auto 4wd Mode all the time? I keep it in Auto until I need it in 4wd. I never put it in just 2wd but Im fixing to start. Anybody notice a big difference in fuel mileage? Does Auto wear out parts faster?

yes and yes.
in auto it locks the left cv axle in. so front diff
is spinning all the time.
its a different transfer from the full autos.
I would change the fluid in transfer and front diff.

My reason for wondering about all this is I just noticed a vibration in my truck. I had to put it in 4wd yesterday to go look at some rice fields. I just noticed today that my truck was making a small vibration. I can have it in Park and just idling and the vibration will come and go. I am thinking it has more to do with all this rain tho. It cant be anything to do with 4WD if it is vibrating when in Park can it?

My new truck has the auto feature and im not going to run it in auto. Call me a skeptic, but I believe it being in 2wd is better than being in Auto.

I only ran my last GMC in auto when it was raining, helped taking off from a dead stop.

Only time mine was ever in auto was when it was icy this winter
99% of the time, there is no chance I will need 4wd in a split second and rely on it to engage for me

That's what I do with mine just to keep from spinning the tires trying to pull into traffic.

right.
most likely it needs the throttle body cleaned. if that doesn't work
I would have the motor mounts and transmission mount checked.
grab the fan blade and make sure the clutch fan on the front of the motor doesn't wobble

I have a CAI. With all this moisture from the 3.25" of rain we have gotten since yesterday morning be causing that?

they are known to need cleaning.
if you havecak oiled air filter
you need to clean your mass air.
both are very easy to do. google.
get mass air cleajer and use it for both. dont touch mass air wire inside the tube. just spray it w cleaner and let air dry.

I don't even have that option in my company truck. It's either in Auto or Full 4wd.

Yeah I have replaced and cleaned both in the past on my old drag car. Soon as this rain stops and it dries up I will be doing all that you have recommended. Thanks for the info.

yours had a diff frt end and transfer. its made to run that way, his isnt.
