In a recent interview with Yahoo's Graham Bensinger, Daly estimates that his total gambling losses from 1991-2007 fall in the range of $55-57 million. "We went through all my tax records to find out, because I really didn't know, and it just came to that," Daly said. "I was shocked. I thought it might have been $20-25 (million), but I had no idea that it was $55-57 million. It's crazy."

I'm pretty sure we can't put a value on what Jordan has lost. How much is he worth, anyway?

ETA: The google machine says 650 mill

Well, he wouldn't need to be selling shirts in the parking lot if had held on to half of it.

He should have taken a lesson from Net and simply not paid his gambling debts.

I'm amazed someone can lose $55m in gambling without having an ungodly amount of income to support that, a la Michael Jordan.

Daly made a lot but never THAT much. His career earnings on the PGA tour are around $12m. Sponsorships must have been lucrative or he leveraged the frick out of everything making bets.

My Daly story: I was working as a Casino Host at the Las Vegas Hilton and we hired him for a golf tournament for a tourny with our higher end players. We paid him $50K to show up for dinner Friday night and Saturday morning show up and hit a couple drives for our guest to see.

That Friday night my boss gave me the $50k check to bring to his room, I brought it up and his manager said. "Just go back down to the cage and deposit it, John is going to gamble tonight"

The next morning I came in early and checked his play, he dropped roughly $650K in about 8 hours.

I will say this though, he showed up to everything he had to do, was super nice and friendly with everyone.

I know CSB.

He owed Harrahs so much he would go and play golf with whales that were staying at the casino. Had a friend play three holes with him in Shrevtexas.

those guys can make tons of money doing appearances. Guys like Daly aren't too proud to turn down anything.

I like jd. Still have no sympathy for an idiot who literally flushes 55 million down the toilet.

It is. But in that context he would be getting his money's worth.

This is my go-to John Daly story.

I was down at Pearl River Resort in Philadelphia, MS at a blackjack table. Dancing Rabbit came up in conversation with some guys. Somehow John Daly's name came up because he used to play there and gamble. They tell me they met JD up in Nashville a few weeks prior and played golf with him. Then one of them pulled his phone out and showed a video.

In the video, you see John Daly and a group of guys standing in a parking lot in downtown Nashville. One guy is laying on the ground with a tee in his mouth. JD places a ball on the tee and then just whallops one into the black sky of downtown Nashville. Absolutely no telling where that ball landed and what it hit when it did.

He did that everywhere.

Dude must get the best blow. How many people do all that blow and still get fat?

Not many. Because it all gets cut once it leaves Mexico. That's why.
