"I was pretty close to going to LSU," Speaks said. "Very close, very, very close. But, one thing led to another, one phone call was missed and now I'm an Ole Miss Rebel."

I'll take Valentine. Not getting Lorenzo Carter was a bigger loss, but its time to move on. If a kid makes his decision based on one phone call then so be it. Best of luck to him!

I think Valentine was a take regardless. It basically would have been Valentine and Speaks instead of Valentine and Trey L

Then again we only took 23 so we probably would have taken all three.

If anything it illustrates just how fickle kids can be in the recruiting game.

If he didn't commit bc 1 phone call was missed he is a drama queen. Pretty BS excuse.

they didn't take his call because they weren't going to take him. I think they were really going to get Carter up until the day of, based on the AJC article about him a few months ago.

Recruiting is over, Speaks is about to strap it up in SEC play now. It will separate the men from the boys real quick!

Agree. I have a hard time believing a phone call was the deciding factor. Not saying it wasn't a hard decision or really close but c'mon.

Probably gave him the guilt trip about not going back on his word

I don't understand the reasoning behind the article in the first place. I know it's probably meant to be some sort of insult as to LSU's recruiting efforts, but it comes off as more insulting to Ole Miss as a program.

If I were an Ole Miss fan, I wouldn't really enjoy reading an article about a kid settling for my school as his second choice.

That's how any educated person would read it. Probably would have been best had nothing been said. But hey, we live in a world where many feel the need to post everything they feel on social media. It's a sad sad world full of people crying for attention anyway they can get it

I knew we were close to a flip. Would have loved to steal him, and wish we were on him earlier. I believe he will be a stud, and would rather him playing with us than for a rival.

Either way, our last class was insanely good, and even crazier knowing how well we recovered from the late in state defections

If the staff felt like they really wanted him, they would have given the kid a call back....it's pretty simple

He is nothing but Tiger bait now wanting attention and trying to make people believe he is good enough for LSU even though he chose a 2nd rate program. Case closed.
